Hazel’s World of Miniatures

My career as a miniaturist began about twenty years ago when my father and I built my Tilly Advery first dolls house. During that time I discovered and joined the Johannesburg Miniature Society and what had started off as a hobby very soon became a part time occupation.
Years later when I was given a large collection of vintage miniatures my dream of having a miniature museum eventually become a reality.

I enjoy the challenge of creating scenes in awkard spaces, hence most of my work is set in old mantle clock cases. Even old wooden cigar boxes, vintage collar and hat boxes are equally challenging.

End of path Ramsgate┬áSituated in our little garden cottage in a sub tropical village on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa my ‘Hazel’s World of Miniatures’ opened in March 2011

On a lazy, hot summer day there is something very special about losing oneself in the world of Lilliputian to the sound of beetles singing and waves crashing onto the sand

I hope you will enjoy looking at some of my creations
